Meet our new farmer!

Meet our new farmer!

We are so excited to introduce you to the fine people who make the best veggies in the Pemberton Valley. Laughing Crow Organics is a certified organic farm, located in Pemberton, BC.

Kerry & Andrew are the duo behind the farm.  Their team is responsible for supplying a lot of the local restaurants with some of the best, organic produce around.

When we came to them about our zucchini needs for our food truck, we had a bit of a chuckle when we told them how much we go through (our daily usage for the food truck will be about 100-150 pounds, per day).

Our new food truck, which is making its debut July 1st at Lost Lake, will feature the best of what is in season.  Laughing Crow Organics is playing a pivotal role in this.  Our food truck menu features build-a-bowls; choose your base, your protein and your sauce.  The choices for a base are roasted yams, roasted seasonal veg and fresh mixed greens.

A few key reasons went into choosing to work with Kerry & Andrew.  The first and foremost was the quality and taste is tops!  They have the juiciest and tastiest carrots I have ever tried.  Once we found out their capacity to produce what we needed, we knew this was to be a perfect relationship!  We send our order in Tuesday, they delivery on Thursday, and on Friday, you get to eat the freshest food available!  Farm to truck.  Your food travelled lest than 40 km’s to get your plate.

Why should you care about eating local?  Other than being super hipster about it:

  • Fresh produce, recently harvested means the vegetable you are eating was given the best chance to grow and picked at it’s peak. This means more macro-nutrients, more vitamins.
  • The taste will not be in comparison with your local grocery store. A lot of that produce had to travel a really long way.
  • Supporting farmers – Farmers are some of the hardest people working I know. They certainly don’t do it for the money!  Their love of the land, the product they produce and what they are giving to the community is the passion behind what they do.
  • Supporting your local economy. Yup, local.  Sure it’s a buzz word that gets thrown around, but, do you know what the actual impact is?  The current stat is that of every dollar spend locally, .48 cents goes straight back in to it’s local economy, compared to only .14 when spent with a chain store. #local

The laughing Crow Organics farm do supply a CSA delivery program, but, they are sold out!  Their program was so popular from last year that 2016 sold out before they even made their first delivery.  We know you are going to love it to!  A lot of their produce is will be featured in our weekly menu’s too!  Now, if we could just speed up our Pemberton weather and get those little zucchinis’ to grow!
