We are so proud of our chief Caveman, Kara McMaster for winning the rising star of Whistler award last month at the Whistler Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards.
The awards are given to locally run Whistler business being recognised for achievements in their industry. Kara was recognised for work with Caveman Grocer and her involvement in the community.
I nominated Kara for this award, for many reasons, but here is the exact nomination that I sent in:
Kara (aka, Chief Caveman) has built Caveman Grocer, a paleo meal delivery service, from the ground up beginning June 2012. She possesses an outstanding proficiency for business marketing and strategy, most of this being acquired through self-learning to better her knowledge and skills. We have seen this directly contribute to the exceptional business growth through the expansion of the company, especially over the last 2 years. Kara has succeeded in sustaining an 86% customer retention rate, in-part by providing phenomenal customer service. Caveman now delivers B.C. wide and has started their new National Shipping Program!
Kara is a keen supporter of local business and farmers using local produce and protein in her busy kitchen. She has been at the forefront of many events in the Sea-to-Sky area including the Whistler and Squamish markets, the Whistler Food Truck Pilot Program, catering for the Ironman event and volunteers, as well as being a strong presence in the fitness community.
Every week Caveman delivers meals free of charge to Covenant House and regularly gives back to the community by donating gift vouchers or meals for charitable events.
Kara has met the challenge of opening a meal service in Whistler with grace and courage.
Congratulations Kara, well deserved!
